Beatnik On The River

Beatnik On The River is one of newest and coolest edition’s to Chicago. You can find this second hidden jungle right in the heart of the Chicago Loop. Beatnik On The River is located right next to it’s sister restaurant Cafe Bonhomme. There is a secret stairwell you need to find in order to get to Beatnik On The River. The ambiance is insane and the service is amazing. Beatnik On The River only has a small portion of the original Mediterranean tapas menu, due to sharing a kitchen with another restaurant. They cannot keep up with a full brunch, dinner, cocktail and dessert menu. 

I first visited Beatnik On The River when they opened Summer 2018 and I am now a customer for life. I have taken two of my good friends Scout and Jackie there multiple times. We wanted to check out the vibe and menu of course. Day drinking on the Chicago River is such a dream at this location. The drinks were absolutely spectacular. I have eaten here around 10 times and I can now tell you that you need to order potatoes three ways, the breakfast sandwich, a cheese burger and the avocado toast. You can’t go wrong with any of those delicious items! I would also give the steak kebabs a try.

I was lucky enough to be one of the winners of their Instagram contest. I won a $400 gift certificate and you bet your bottom I ordered practically one of everything on the menu during summer 2019. I always wait for the perfect summer day to make my reservation. One of my favorite times was with my my mom to celebrate my 24th birthday. Another fun visit was with two of my Anthro babes from Highland Park, Dani and Jenna.

They have exquisite desserts. I even received a special birthday treat from the head chef on my birthday. It was the most decadent buttery cookie with brownie bits, edible flowers, a delicious frosting and a birthday candle to top it off!

I love bringing my friends out for a day of Mediterranean bliss. I always have a killer time at Beatnik On The River. The service is always kind and the views on the river are great. I highly recommend you book your reservation early on the weekends, it can get pretty crowded. Beatnik On The River is your perfect summer destination in Chicago. If you are looking for an adult version of The Rainforest Cafe, you’ve found it.
