Cabra Chicago

I'm a big fan of Stephanie Izard and her restaurants, especially Duck Duck Goat and Girl and the Goat. I grew up watching Top Chef and she was the first ever female to win the competition. I could not have been more excited to try her new rooftop restaurant Cabra! It’s located on the rooftop of the West Loop's Hoxton hotel. This restaurant focuses on Peruvian cuisine.

I grabbed my bestie Scout and our moms and we made a reservation bright and early on a Saturday. We enjoyed the atmosphere; it's colorful and vibrant, and the views of the city are superb. There are two patios, an indoor dining area and a pool. The decor is radiant, fun and picturesque. There are plants everywhere with brightly colored sofa’s and chairs throughout the restaurant. Cabra has a casual, down-to-earth, and serene vibe. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered some really great brunch cocktails and our cute server kept them coming!

The menu was minimal but the options were diverse and unique. There's a number of different ceviches, fish dishes, salads, empanadas, omelettes and waffles on the brunch menu. Overall, it's definitely a great place to share. The flavors are very cool and fun to try. The food was well executed and tasty. I have quite a few dietary restrictions and Stephanie herself accommodated me. You can see her and her staff cooking through the kitchen window, I was lucky she was there that weekend. She whipped up a special veggie omelette just for me. She was so kind and sweet. My day was 100% made and I will totally be back to Cabra next summer.
