Springtime Chi

Springtime in Chicago is wild. We get all four seasons here and spring somehow gets all four in just a few months. One day it will thunderstorm and next day it’ll be sunny and gorgeous. You never really know what your gonna get. The one perk of living in Chicago during spring is the beautiful chaos it creates. Chicago in full bloom is spectacular. The trees come back with vivid leaves and millennium park blooms to perfection. Taking a spring stroll around the city is one of my favorite things to do. All you need are some cool sunglasses, headphones, a good playlist and a pair of vans.

I personally love garden gazing and neighborhood jumping. Each little piece of the city is completely different from the next. Spring is one of the best times of year because that means my favorite flowers come in season again. I am strictly a tulip girl and occasionally a rose lover when tulips aren’t available. Farmer’s markets start to open, flower shops are full, the city streets are blasted with bright colors and beautiful flowers. After winter defrosts, I like to make my rounds at a few coffee shops. I swear nothing hits better than an iced chai on a perfect spring day. I will admit, i’m a sucker for a cuppa matcha too. Spring has a few holidays sprinkled in like Easter and St. Paddy’s Day. After being trapped inside for months, it’s nice to grab a bite or go to brunch with your friends. Patio season opens up around May in Chicago. If it’s a beautiful weekend, you bet that i’ll be planted on a cute rooftop patio with a cocktail in hand.

I always like to snap a few photos when I frolic around the city. One of my favorite spots to capture Chicago in springtime is in the loop. Millennium park always has stunning views, however, i’m a big fan of the the medians in the middle of the street. The city gardening team does such a phenomenal job with the color theme each year. My favorite shot happens to almost get me hit by a cab every two seconds but i swear it’s worth it! I always strive to find new and cool places to explore during spring.
